چکیده

Inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry is a powerful analytical technique. Because of its sensitivity, accuracy, multielement capability, high throughput, rapid analysis times and low detection limits, it able to determine simultaneously long-lived radionuclides at trace ultra-trace levels as well isotope ratios. It has been increasingly applied in the framework rare events experiments like those investigating nature dark matter neutrinos, where screening selection extremely radiopure materials for experimental apparatus crucial. Here, inductively (ICP-MS) measurements chemical purity Cs2HfCl6 crystal scintillator used study α decay naturally occurring Hf isotopes own raw are reported. Moreover, GERDA/LEGEND experiment, an overview ICP-MS results monitor recycling process enriched germanium scraps shown. Significant outcomes, such limits despite small amount sample analyze fast results, have achieved response challenges required by modern background experiments.

Newborn mass screening and selective screening using electrospray tandem mass spectrometry in Japan.

Electrospray tandem mass spectrometry was applied to detect a series of inherited metabolic disorders during a newborn-screening pilot study and a selective screening in Japan. In our mass screening of 102,200 newborns, five patients with propionic acidemia, two with methylmalonic acidemia, two with medium-chain acyl-CoA dehydrogenase deficiency, three with citrullinemia type II, and one with p...

Newborn screening with tandem mass spectrometry: examining its cost-effectiveness in the Wisconsin Newborn Screening Panel.

OBJECTIVE To examine the cost-effectiveness of tandem mass spectrometry (MS/MS) in a neonatal screening panel for 14 fatty acid oxidation and organic acidemia disorders in the Wisconsin Newborn Screening Program. STUDY DESIGN An incremental cost-effectiveness analysis with a hypothetical cohort of 100,000 infants was performed. A threshold of $50,000/QALY (quality-adjusted life-year) was used...

Newborn screening by tandem mass spectrometry: ethical and social issues.

Emerging technologies like Tandem Mass Spectrometry (TMS) enable multiple tests on a single blood sample and allow the expansion of Newborn Screening (NBS) to include various metabolic diseases. Introducing TMS for NBS raises important social and ethical questions: what are the criteria for adding disorders to screening panels? What evidence justifies expansion of screening? How can equity in N...

Economics of tandem mass spectrometry screening of neonatal inherited disorders.

OBJECTIVES The aim of this study was to evaluate the cost-effectiveness of neonatal screening for phenylketonuria (PKU) and medium-chain acyl-coA dehydrogenase (MCAD) deficiency using tandem mass spectrometry (tandem MS). METHODS A systematic review of clinical efficacy evidence and cost-effectiveness modeling of screening in newborn infants within a UK National Health Service perspective was...
